- Practices pharmacy in accordance with all applicable regulations and upholds pharmacy policy/procedures as appropriate
- Accurately and efficiently assesses drug therapy in relation to patient specific conditions.
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships with colleagues, physicians and other care providers.
- Coordinates department operations and assures responsibility for professional development.
- Establishes standards/norms for clinical practice/patient care and evaluates opportunities that improve patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates independent leadership and professionalism.
- Facilitates pharmacy student training programs for 4th year clinical clerkships.
- Completes residency required objectives and maintains documentation and records as required by ASHP.
- The residency begins on July 1 of each year and lasts 12 months. (Starting date negotiable.) Requirements for acceptance into Desert Regional Medical Center's Residency Program include:
- Applicant must be a recent graduate from an accredited school or college of pharmacy.
- The applicant must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.
- The applicant must have a pending California licensure by the July 1st beginning of residency.
- Residents must take the California Pharmacy Board Exams (NAPLEX, CJPE) and achieve successful licensure by September 1st of the residency year.
- Current American Heart Association BLS or within 30 days of hire (maintain current at all times).
- If routinely staffed in critical care areas will require one or all of the following advanced life support certifications within 90 days of hire or transfer, as applicable (verify with Pharmacy Director):
American Heart Association ACLS (maintain current at all times)
PALS (maintain current at all times)
NRP (maintain current at all times)
- Able to work all shifts and weekends
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Office (Word, Excel, PPT) experience
- Professional organization participation.

Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
GENERAL DUTIES:
The Resident Pharmacy shall perform special projects that develop and/or enhance department services, professional practice, educational programs, and personal training/knowledge; in accordance with ASHP Residency Program Guidelines. He/she shall support department staffing as needed, and utilize critical thinking skills and exercises independent decision-making as needed for the provision of safe and rational medication therapy.
