    Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

    Position Summary

    This position will perform the major portion of all accounting duties for the North Carolina Botanical Garden. Responsibilities include daily accounting activities such as deposits, accounts payable, travel, purchasing, reconciliation and financial reporting.

    This position will reconcile Pcard transactions and Campus Billing charges; manage all honoraria/contractor actions; supplier creation and updates, voucher creation and submission, in addition to, placing procurement orders in ePro.

    Fund types include State, F&A, trust, sponsored programs, auxiliary and foundation related.


    The Business Operations Technician will also serve a variety of administrative roles within the department, such as being the first point of contact in the business office, backup TIM administrator, departmental liaison to ITS service group and manage computer inventory and electronic tools.

    This position will provide direct support and report to the Director of Business Operations at the Garden. And this position will also provide backup support for the Garden Shop and other administrative duties as needed.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements


    High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

    This position requires attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. The selected candidate must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively and remain calm under pressure. Demonstrated experience in office operations and use of office technology is essential.

    Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience


    Previous experience in a higher education setting and working knowledge of university systems such as Connect Carolina, Infoporte, and Concur is highly preferred.

    Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements


    Ability to safely lift or move up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations; position will participate in weekend curatorial duties which involves walking and monitoring Garden's grounds on a rotating schedule.
