Job Summary
The Medical Technologist is responsible to perform complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells and tissues.
+- Prepares and performs a variety of laboratory tests in one or more sections of the laboratory to obtain laboratory results and data used for diagnosis treatment and prevention of disease.
- Ensures that all testing is performed accurately and resulted as ordered within turn-around-time expectations Completes all required documentation follows up on all unusual critical results as required by policy procedure Obtains/receives prepares specimens for analysis Understands specimen factors that can affect accuracy of laboratory testing insures integrity through testing process.
- Understands theory behind methods operates pieces instrumentation used obtain test results Performs instrument maintenance calibrations quality control test procedures troubleshooting refers questionable or unusual cases technical supervisor lab supervisor director pathologist Ensures compliance hospital regulatory safety accrediting agency requirements Maintains continuing education competency requirements defined by policy certification agency requirements Proficient hospital office computer systems As needed Assist train orient new staff students respective disciplines Assumes temporary leadership role absence supervisor Assist regulatory preparation Maintains supply reagent levels practices cost containment Performs other duties assigned.
