    Job Description

  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and promote a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Perform regular risk assessments of manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks and prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Provide Safety Training: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels of the organization to increase awareness of safety protocols, promote safe work practices, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Lead Safety Committees: Chair safety committees or teams to facilitate communication and collaboration among employees and management regarding safety concerns, initiatives, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Perform Safety Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with safety standards, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Investigate Incidents: Investigate accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine root causes, identify contributing factors, and develop preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
  • Manage Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations and ensure the company's compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies through documentation, reporting, and record-keeping.
  • Coordinate Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to address potential emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters, and coordinate drills and training exercises to ensure readiness.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other departments to integrate safety initiatives into all aspects of the manufacturing process and facilitate continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Monitor Safety Performance: Track and analyze safety metrics, trends, and leading indicators to assess safety performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement proactive measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Promote Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization by promoting safety awareness, recognizing and rewarding safe behavior, and addressing safety concerns promptly.
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain open communication channels with employees, management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders regarding safety-related matters, initiatives, and performance metrics.

    The Successful Applicant

    The ideal candidate will have 5 plus years of experience in EHS, previous management experience is not required.

  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of industrial manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials to assess potential hazards and implement safety protocols effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental protection, occupational health, and workplace safety, such as OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies.
  • Risk Assessment Skills: Ability to identify potential hazards in the workplace and conduct thorough risk assessments to mitigate risks to employees, the environment, and the company.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey safety policies, procedures, and training to employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership and management skills to develop and implement safety programs, lead safety committees, and motivate employees to prioritize safety in their daily activities.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Aptitude for analyzing complex safety issues, troubleshooting problems, and implementing practical solutions to address safety concerns in a manufacturing environment.
  • Training and Education: Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs for employees to increase awareness, promote safe work practices, and ensure compliance with regulations.Team Collaboration: Capability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, maintenance, and human resources, to integrate safety initiatives into all aspects of the manufacturing process.
