    Description

    **Description:**

    Large machinist skills refer to setup and operation of heavy duty machines such as large horizontal boring mills, large lathes, large VTC's and gantry mills to manufacture large components.

    Large machinist also need to be knowledgeable in reading drawings and have a basic understating of GD& T.

    Additionally, they should possess a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.

    These skills include proficiency with:

    Math skills

    Can work with fractions

    Large micrometers -12"- 30"

    Large Vernier calipers - up to 60"

    Ring gages/plug gages

    Thread milling

    Programming skills

    Precision and accuracy

    Strong and agile

    Preferably Siemens controls and/or Fanuc.

    Familiar with setting up large castings and weldments (not vice type work)

    Familiarity with multiple head attachments such as angle heads, facing heads, high speed heads etc.

    Exotic meta Is

    Tight tolerances (.0005" or better)
