    Description
    Network Security Administrator

    Objective:
    Responsible for the administration and robust security of network infrastructure with a strong focus on Palo Alto firewalls, Azure environments, and Juniper networking systems. This position involves proactive security administration to prevent unauthorized access, data integrity breaches, and network failures. The role requires an experienced individual who will not only maintain current systems but also enhance security measures. The Network Security Administrator will also serve as a backfill for Juniper networking tasks, ensuring seamless network functionality and protection against threats. Works with significant autonomy. Expected to make high-level decisions and guide the security direction of the organization. Handles sensitive and critical issues requiring confidentiality and discretion.

    Responsibilities:
    Security Management and Firewall Administration:
    • Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls to ensure optimal performance and security
    • Monitor network security events and logs to proactively identify and address potential security threats
    • Regularly update firewall rules and configurations to adapt to new security challenges
    • Provide operational support for VPN technologies, including Palo Alto Global Protect
    • Participate in firewall reviews and other compliance related activities
    • Troubleshoot connectivity and/or performance issues using Splunk and other tools
    Juniper Network Administration:
    • Provide operational support for Juniper network infrastructure as required
    • Configure and troubleshoot Juniper routers, switches, and other networking
    • Ensure high availability and reliability of Juniper network services
    Advanced Firewall, VPN and Network Management:
    • Oversee the administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of Palo Alto firewalls as well as other network security devices
    • Perform advanced monitoring and analysis of security events to prevent and mitigate threats
    • Analyze security events using enterprise packet capture and packet broker technologies
    • Assist with load balancers and WAF technologies to help secure web applications
    • Optimize firewall rules and network configurations to enhance security without compromising network performance
    • Provide expert support and backfill for Juniper network infrastructure and Aruba wireless ensuring optimal performance and security
    Design and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement security strategies focusing on Palo Alto firewalls, Azure networking, and other relevant technologies
    • Lead network security projects from conception to deployment, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and security standards
    • Develop, review, and enhance network security policies and procedures to ensure robust security posture
    Team Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
    • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate network security solutions into the broader technology environment
    • Keep abreast of the latest network security trends and technologies
    • Participate in the continuous improvement of network security practices by recommending and implementing enhancements
    Incident Response and Documentation
    • Respond to network security incidents swiftly and effectively, ensuring minimal impact on business operations
    • Document incident findings and follow-up actions to prevent future occurrences
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and changes
    Continuous Improvement and Professional Development:
    • Stay updated on the latest security technologies and trends to continuously enhance the security infrastructure
    • Advocate for security awareness across the organization
    Qualifications:
    Required:
    • At least 7 years of hands-on experience in network security, specifically managing and optimizing firewall systems
    • Minimum of 2 years of operational experience with network technologies and wireless systems
    • Must hold a current Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) Certification
    • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced network protocols, with at least 5 years of experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting complex network environments
    • Must have experience in effectively communicating technical details and security concepts to non-technical stakeholders, as evidenced by past presentations, training sessions, or documented reports aimed at a non-technical audience
    Preferred:
    • Additional certifications in Juniper, Aruba, and Azure technologies are highly desirable
    • Experience with VMware ESXi virtualization
    • Cross platform server/workstation environments including but not limited to Windows, Linux, Cloud based
    • IT project management
