    How your role fits into Boldt:

    As a General Superintendent for The Boldt Company, you will lead our project teams to success by setting a positive example through accountability, mentoring, inclusion, and continuously ensuring the success of our project teams.

    You will oversee the scheduling, coordination, and supervision of craft employee activities on our projects.

    Your leadership will be a meaningful component to ensure our projects get completed within budget, on schedule, and in a safe manner.

    You will be a critical member of the job site leadership team who provides leadership and developmental feedback to the construction team.

    This role will be key to the development and implementation of our superintendent education and development programs.

    You will also lead the coordination of our superintendent assignments and provide feedback to the Operations manager and General manager for proposal development and team assignment of superintendents.


    What you get to do:

    • Develop cohesive teams to shape the way our work will be accomplished by subcontractors, field employees, and other parties involved in the project consistent with construction and contract documents, the project team's plans, and established schedules.
    • Support and train our superintendents in the review of the planned means of construction for a project and provide input for improvement; help them gain a solid understanding of contract terms and schedule.
    • Communicate issues (accident, inspections, job site difficulties, etc.) to our leadership in a timely manner.
    • Help and educate our superintendents in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.), complaints, and grievances within the workforce as required and with the necessary documentation. Assist Labor Relations in maintaining communications with unions, resolving jurisdictional disputes, requisitioning required manpower, etc., as necessary.
    • Assist and train our superintendents with plan development including project staffing plans, major equipment plans, master schedule, work with the project owner, project management, and subcontractors as required. Validate current staffing and equipment plans match the original estimates.
    • Help in the selection of the Superintendent, General Foreman, and Foreman for a specific project. Connect with Labor Coordinators on these selections to ensure a good fit for the project and team.
    • Actively participate in and help recruit staff, including potential superintendents or foremen.
    • Build a strong working relationship with customers, designers, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
    • Participate in project kickoff meetings. Evaluate and assist in selecting and supervising our subcontractors.
    Field Operations

    • Support and educate our superintendents in the preparation of draft schedules, logistics plans, and workforce charts during the preconstruction process and make improvements to schedule as needed.
    • Review the estimate and project scope documents with our project leadership prior to proposing on or commencing work.
    • After initial layout of the safety and quality plans for the project, assist in the development of the Site-Specific Safety and Quality Plans. Help lead the engagement for the entire project team in finishing the plans and follow up on execution and accountability for the plans.
    • Assist and train our superintendents with ensuring all on-site activities are carried out in accordance with Boldt's safety program and applicable OSHA (state and federal) regulations to meet our strategic goal of ZERO incidents. Champion our Safety Rules. Monitor and maintain a safety program including documenting and correcting unsafe work practices and work hazards.
    • Support and educate our superintendents to monitor all jobsite document controls including daily reports, QA/QC checklists, productivity tracking, punch lists, schedule updates, payroll, quantity reporting, accident and incident reports, timesheets, RFIs and field issues or changes, and any other site activity.
    • Help and train our superintendents to identify potential budget problems and work with the team to develop contingency plans and other measures to control or successfully manage these; and to ensure any outstanding testing and inspection issues are resolved and complete.
    • Implement Boldt Production System (BPS) planning. Lead and facilitate BPS meetings as needed.
    • Find new ways to continuously improve our means and methods to improve project schedules and delivery. Build a culture of Continuous Improvement for each project. Embrace BoldThinking.
    Required Skills

    What we expect from you:

    • Four-year Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field

    OR
    high school degree and equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.

    • Minimum of fifteen years industry and supervisory experience in similar facility construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures required.
    • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups essential.
    • Must have basic understanding of craft jurisdiction and working under collective bargaining agreements.
    • Understanding of a wide variety of building systems including structural steel, metal deck, cast in place concrete systems and shoring, wood framing, chilled water systems, steam generation and distribution, emergency power and electrical systems, high and medium voltage, etc.
    • Effectiveness in developing innovative construction methods and techniques.
    • Demonstrate excellence as a construction team leader through superior leadership skills securing trust and confidence of team, inspectors, subcontractors, and clients.
    • Ability to mentor and train in all construction issues, efficiently lead large teams on complex projects and be calm under pressure.
    • OSHA 30 certification is preferred.

    Physical requirements and working conditions:


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position objects and operate tools or controls.

    Employee occasionally uses computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to position self to maneuver in confined or awkward spaces.

    The employee regularly is required to remain in a stationary position and move to access people or machinery or workspaces.

    Employees are occasionally required to ascend and/or descend a ladder or stairs to reach work areas. The employee must regularly move up to 20 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds.

    The employee is regularly required to travel (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation) and frequently performs work on-site at construction work sites.

    Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor regularly.

    The employee is required to be able to optimally communicate while on the job site and throughout the completion of duties.

    The working conditions of this position require the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

    Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to maintain safety and prevent exposure to harmful materials.

    The environment for which this position functions may be exposed to prolonged loud noises and may contain scents and fragrances.

    May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
