JOB OPPORTUNITY with the Glenview Park District:

Early Childhood Camp Counselor (Part-Time, Seasonal)

"Recreate" a better life with a career in the field of Parks & Recreation

JOB SUMMARY

In this fun and rewarding position, you will get hands-on experience by:

  • Meeting & greeting parents and campers upon arrivals and departures
  • Actively participating in daily activities alongside campers
  • Leading and supervising campers to ensure rewarding and safe camp experiences
  • Understanding and following the direction of the Camp Director
  • Engaging in regular communication with parents, campers, and staff
  • Ensuring safety for all participants and administering basic first aid as necessary
  • Assisting with set-up and break-down of campsite

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years of age and should have:

  • Experience working in a summer camp or similar position
  • Knowledge of camps and camp activities
  • Excellent skills in working with children
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents, campers and staff
  • Ability to work with children aged 3-5 years old

SCHEDULING & PAY

This is a part-time position in the summer. Qualified persons MUST be available for:

  • Training the week of June 1
  • All weeks of camp: June 8-Beginning of August (end date will vary depending on the camp)
  • Work weekdays, Monday through Friday 8:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. or Monday through Friday 8:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m. (hours will vary depending on the camp)
  • Camp Staff will be required to work on the 4th of July, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (hours will vary depending on staffing assignment

Pay starts at $16.00/hour and is dependent on qualifications.
