- B.S. or B.A. with valid Minnesota teaching license in parent education.
- Knowledge of parent education and skills in effective facilitation of adult education.
- Experience in leading groups and teaching parent education is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with children and parents.
- Sensitive to multicultural, gender fairness and disability awareness.
- Effective computer skills pertaining to the job.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with ECFE program director and staff, district personnel and ECFE participants.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm, patience, problem solving and flexibility.
- Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills.
- Plans and facilitates parent education classes using the Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework.
- Collaborates with staff and individual teams on curriculum which includes research-based best practices for Early Childhood Family Education classes.
- Creates a climate of trust and safety which includes the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
- Acts as a positive role model and reinforces positive parenting skills.
- Provides referral and resource information to assist families and connect them with appropriate agencies.
- Creates an environment of teamwork, shares resources and collaborates to build community relationships within the classroom, program and in the larger community.
- Attends staff meetings, parent educator meetings and other meetings related to the position.
- Uses technology to enhance instruction and incorporates different learning methodologies for all learning styles.
- Develops and organizes a stimulating physical setting to promote successful learning and discussion.
- Maintain cost effective management of classroom resources and supplies.
- Assists in marketing and outreach to families in the community.
- Pursues opportunities for professional growth by attending staff development trainings, reading books, taking classes and attending seminars.
- Follows the mission, principles and guidelines of Early Childhood Family Education and of the school district.
- Other duties as assigned by the program director.
- Often required to sit and stand for extended periods of time, reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, or crawl.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 50 pound child, restrictive procedures and transfer procedures up to 50 pounds.

POSITION DUTY DAYS/CONTRACT: part time hours per week, based on enrollment (daytime/evening hours) Hours increase and decrease based on ECFE program schedule.

The Early Childhood Parent Educator will facilitate learning within an Early Childhood Family Education setting for parents of 0-5 year olds.
