    Field Service Engineer - Failure Analysis

    Hamamatsu, one of the world's largest suppliers of advanced light detectors and detector systems for industrial, scientific, and commercial applications, has an immediate opening for a Field Service Engineer - Failure Analysis in the Austin, TX area.     Responsibilities include:
    • On-site service including: repairs, maintenance, upgrades and installations. Service is to be performed to meet quality standards, completed in a timely manner to minimize downtime, and reduce expenses. Assist in the training of customers on the operation of products.
    • Provide timely phone and email support to help the customer troubleshoot problems and decide on a course of action to resolve a problem. Courses of action could be: communication with the factory, onsite visit or remote system access via TeamViewer.
    • Installation and removal of demo/loaner equipment and system relocation at customer site as needed.
    • (Demo) Assist in the ongoing sales effort, demonstrate operation and use of equipment to prospective customers.
    • (Loaner) Reduce customer downtime in cases where a component of the system will be returned to HPK for repair.
    • (Relocation) De-install system, install shipping brackets, secure, or remove components as needed, pack and crate system, unpack and reinstall in new location.
    • Maintain a parts inventory and tools to perform basic onsite service. Communicate with the factory to identify critical parts as needed for system support or repair.
    • Record all activities in the Service Management system and generate service reports for customers. Submit expense reports for all travel expenses.
    • Schedule own travel plans. Coordinate with customer's schedule.
    Requirements

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in either Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Material Science and 3 years' experience in Failure Analysis or Semiconductor industry.
    • Previous experience in servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting scientific/technical equipment, operation of digital volt meters and oscilloscopes.
    • Demonstrate good mechanical ability.
    • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills with attention to detail and ability to read and work from schematics.
    • Computer hardware knowledge, installation of hardware, software, drivers, and operating systems.
    • Adherence to customer rules and policies regarding worksite behavior and safety.
    • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Ability to travel on short notice.
    • Ability to travel from 50% to 75% of the time with possible travel outside the US.
    • Self-managed, takes ownership of customer satisfaction and expectations.
    • The ability to transport yourself to and from appointments.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Past experience using, servicing, installing imaging or scanning equipment components.
    • Experience with mechanical systems, robotics, or sample handling.
    • Microsoft Dynamics CE
    • Work independently or cooperatively in a team or with customers.
    This position requires working with, or exposure to goods and information that may be subject to the jurisdiction of the US State Department ITAR regulations ) and the Commerce Departments CCL ).
