    Position Summary

    The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the routine and proactive maintenance of the facility as well as coordinating vendors to reflect a professional working environment.

    Objective

    Coordinate all activities to ensure that required daily tasks are accurately completed in an efficient and timely manner. Perform routine repairs, maintenance, and/or housekeeping to facilities as directed. Coordinate maintenance and/or housekeeping activities under the direction of management to ensure that required daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, annual tasks are accurately completed in an efficient manner to ensure that the building/site is maintained at expected sanitation and facility standards.

    Major Roles & Responsibilities

    • Follows, updates, and executes corrective, preventive, and reactive maintenance duties.
    • Ensure that the building/site is maintained at expected sanitation and facility maintenance levels.
    • Complete and document daily and weekly work checklists as assigned and scheduled.
    • Responsible for Moving, Storage, and disposal of client tested samples per client protocol.
    • Perform and assist housekeeping in special cleaning projects as assigned.
    • Equipment maintenance and monitoring
    • Maintain and update campus PM system or work order system
    • Assists in set up of company sponsored events.
    • Assist in Site security duties as needed.
    • Interior and exterior grounds maintenance
    • Flexibility to handle off hour emergency calls pertaining to facilities.
    • Remove snow from sidewalks as needed, if required. Dispense salt as needed.
    • Performs necessary facility related inspections.
    • Responsible for Implementation and maintenance for facilities department 5S.Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
    • Interact and support subcontractor activities

    Additional Responsibilities for Technician II:

    • Contacts approved subcontractors for quotes and to schedule approved projects
    • Work with contractor's cradle to grave on approved projects
    • Maintain building/site regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, FDA, EPA)
    • Review and prioritize maintenance work order requests. Provide timely resolution to ensure the least disruption.
    • Assess down equipment, perform repair and/or determine the need for contractor support.
    • Perform and record preventative maintenance to production and building equipment.
    • Promptly respond to requests for technical support regarding all test, conditioning, and support equipment.
    • Effective verbal/written communication to management, suppliers, and vendors as needed.
    • Provide technical consultation to management, suppliers and vendors providing direction to techs, analysts, and associate engineers, as needed.
    • Write, train, implement and update lab procedures, equipment use, calibration / verification, and preventative maintenance procedures, and technical procedures, providing direction as needed.
    • Communicate with repair service providers for outsourced services to equipment.
    • Receive purchased equipment and log into calibration system, file manuals and calibration records, install said equipment and any support services required, perform equipment shakedown and verification if applicable.
    • Spec., quote, and purchase facility equipment, instrumentation, fixtures, and lab & safety supplies to meet the requirements of laboratory staff.
    • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    • General maintenance experience, including a practical ability to perform various carpentry, plumbing, and painting tasks.
    • Ability to perform work from ladders, scaffolds, and powered lift platforms.
    • Must be able assemble and disassemble various types of modular office furniture including partitions and wall sections.
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
    • Ability to be subject to both external and internal environmental conditions.
    • Ability to be subject to a variety of physical conditions.
    • Ability to wear safety gear as needed to perform specific functions.
    • Valid NYS driver's license.
    • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems
    • Ability to utilize shop machine tools.

    Experience and Educational Background Required for the Job

    • High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience

    Technician II:

    • High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience

    Compensation Range: $20 - $30 hourly (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).
