This is a vacancy for an Engineer III position in the Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability. The successful candidate will serve as a project engineer for various professional engineering projects and manage multiple major capital improvement projects.The work involves resolving design problems, preparing and reviewing correspondence relating to projects, coordinating projects with outside agencies, reviewing plans and specifications for roads bridges drains public buildings operating computers used developing capital GIS computer aided drafting designing solving technical design problems managing CADD operations center administering computer networks engineering software user training analyzing consultant proposals reviews consultant designs prepares consulting agreements supervising assigns reviews work group public works inspectors supervises assigns reviews work professional environmental specialists reviews approves plans specifications water sewer solid hazardous waste disposal air pollution control systems prepares reviews storm water management sediment control environmental reports participates conducts public meetings hearings investigates complaints meets public others prepares supervises resulting correspondence assists preparation capital budgets programs acts spokesperson right-of-way condemnation cases witness judicial proceedings performs related duties required.
The ideal candidate should have graduation from accredited college university bachelor degree engineering plus four years field office engineering experience possession certificate registration Engineer Training issued State United States America plus four years field office engineering experience preferred experience Maryland Department Environment 2000 Maryland Stormwater Design Manual Environmental Site Design techniques performing H&H analyses SWM facilities MD-378 ponds performing dam breach analyses latest guidance documents/memos MDE knowledge theories principles practices engineering knowledge construction inspection techniques skill applying principles practices skill preparation reports correspondence documents review drafting plans solving problems conducting investigations inspections ability learn interpret codes regulations standards read prepare interpret maps plans specifications establish maintain effective working relationships perform mathematical computations communicate effectively analyze proposals agreements plan assign review group professional technical employees operate computers peripheral equipment perform drafting design conduct studies.
