Our Engineering Operations team operates and maintains our mechanical and electrical critical infrastructure to stand up against natural disaster or human caused risks.

    • Data centers consume a lot of resources, and Amazon is committed to sourcing those responsibly by supporting and building green power generating stations around the world. We are committed to making our entire company carbon neutral by 2040.
    • From Fortune 500 companies and media giants to your home town small businesses - our infrastructure is trusted to store, secure, and process the data that makes the world move.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

    Key job responsibilities

    • You will lead the maintenance program of data center critical infrastructure equipment ensuring % up-time of the world's largest cloud computing portfolio.
    • Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career. Prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators, manage projects, coach and create documentation. Guide, train and educate staff on best practices related to all service owner issues.
    • Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switch gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
    • Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
    • Engage in improvement projects, often requiring reaching out to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.
    • Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
    • Coordinate daily with third party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
    • Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
    • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
    • Test safety, quality, reliability, and performance of products, equipment and processes.
    A day in the life

    • Data Centers are a 24/7 operation. Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs, to include working nights.
    • Role may support more than one location/site.
    • Role is expected to respond to out-of-hours emergency calls.
