    Job Opportunity:

    Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Filing & Compliance Analyst to join our State Affairs team in our Stevens Point, WI office. The State Affairs team supports BHSI's admitted platform holistically to ensure profitable and compliant products are built, filed, implemented, monitored, reported, and maintained.

    The teammate in this role will work with internal Product Development and Actuarial teams to analyze, prepare, submit, and manage timely approval of bureau-based and proprietary filings. They will monitor and analyze regulatory changes and communicate to impacted business units.     Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for knowledge of filing requirements for various lines of business and states.
    • Provide expertise to Product Management and Actuarial teams and other functional units, as required, for state filing preparation and ongoing filing support.
    • Collaborate with Product Management, Actuarial, and key stakeholders to develop an understanding of enhancements and revisions to admitted products.
    • Timely and accurate preparation and submission of proprietary and bureau rate, rule, and form filings.
    • Follow-up regularly with state insurance departments regarding status of pending filings to achieve approval.
    • Distribute state objections to the appropriate internal contacts and ensure responses are received and submitted within the required timeframes.
    • Manage tracking tools and corporate record. Communicate project milestones, status, and any challenges to key stakeholders.
    • Review and analyze state insurance department statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine filing and regulatory requirements. Work with Legal counterparts to interpret state insurance statutes, regulations, etc. to provide guidance and direction to business units.
    • Routine monitoring of current marketplace to maintain industry knowledge related to products, competitor intelligence, case law, jurisdictional/regulatory conditions, and emerging issues.
    • Perform research and develop position papers, support letters, and various documentation regarding regulatory changes and new legislation.
    • Develop and maintain contacts with state insurance department staff.
    • Perform other related duties, including short- or long-term departmental projects.
    Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
    • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills to manage rapidly shifting projects effectively in a deadline-oriented environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to proactively work in a team environment as well as independently.
    • Prior experience submitting state filings and working with SERFF and IRFS desired, but not required.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Working knowledge of Property and Casualty lines of business is a plus.
    • Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills.
    • Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to develop expertise in state regulations and ability to identify complex, critical, and sensitive filing issues.
