Wellspring Lutheran Services is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families and children throughout Michigan.
We are currently seeking a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Family Support Specialist to join our Behavioral Health team in Clare.
In this role, you will support families impacted by substance use through in-home services, community engagement, and evidence-based interventions that promote safety, stability, and long-term recovery.
Responsibilities:
Provide outreach and in-home counseling services to families affected by substance use disorder or at risk of child removal due to abuse or neglect.
Provide skill-based interventions that reduce risk factors and promote safety, stability, and recovery within the family system.
Assist families in accessing concrete resources such as housing, food, utilities, transportation, medical care, and community supports.
Educate caregivers on the impact of substance use on parenting, child safety, and family functioning.
Provide education on substance use disorders, relapse prevention, stages of change, and recovery using evidence-based practices.
Utilize motivational interviewing and other evidence-based approaches to support engagement and behavior change.
Encourage participation in community recovery supports and treatment services.
Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and service providers.
Maintain required frequency of face-to-face contact based on contract requirements and family needs.
Complete timely documentation including treatment plans, court reports, service summaries, and safety plans.
Ensure child safety by identifying and responding to signs of abuse or neglect and making required reports.
Maintain accurate case records to support billing and program compliance.
Transport clients as needed using a personal vehicle.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a human services-related field (Master's preferred).
Experience working with individuals and families affected by substance use.
Must begin working toward MCBAP certification (CADC or CAADC) within three months of hire and maintain certification.
Valid Michigan driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
Strong communication, documentation, and motivational interviewing skills.

Schedule and Compensation:
Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week with flexibility to meet family needs.
Hybrid / Remote:
Home-based work with community travel.
Salary range:
$44,000–$49,000 per year, based on experience, licensure, and certification.
Sign-on bonus: $500 for CADC/CAADC credentials (not available to current employees).
Travel:
Mileage reimbursement provided.
