Description

Job Title: Crew Supervisor at Public Works Department

Under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent, the Crew Supervisor plays a vital role in coordinating, participating, and overseeing the work of staff across various areas such as Fleet Maintenance, Parks, Sewers/Storm Drain, Street Lighting, and Building Maintenance, Streets, and Traffic Safety. This position involves carrying out technical and complex tasks within the assigned area of responsibility.

Examples of Duties:

Supervising and coordinating crews within the Public Works Department
Collaborating with other City departments for project coordination
Implementing thorough inspection procedures to ensure top-notch repairs and maintenance
Providing input on maintenance schedules and quality control procedures
Managing contractors and researching purchases of materials
Testing new products and training crews on equipment usage and safety procedures
Handling service complaints and maintenance issues effectively
Supervising and assigning work to crew members, including special projects
Conducting employee performance evaluations and addressing disciplinary matters when necessary
Assisting with interviews and offering guidance on complex problems
Preparing work orders, writing reports, and coordinating with other City departments
Maintaining inventory and overseeing supplies
Acting as a superior in the absence of the Superintendent

Qualifications Guidelines:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge and ability to supervise, motivate, and evaluate staff, interpret blueprints, enforce regulations, and communicate effectively are key for this role in addition to providing exceptional customer service.

Education and Experience: Candidates should have a high school diploma, at least two years of relevant experience, and possess a valid Class C California Driver's License.

Licenses/Certificates: Eligibility requires a valid Class C California Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

This position involves working in indoor and outdoor environments, handling various physical tasks, being exposed to different weather conditions, and potentially responding to emergency calls after hours. Physical and mental capabilities are crucial for this role.

Vision: Normal vision range is necessary for the completion of tasks.

Hearing: Normal audio range hearing is required.
