Join our dynamic team as a Fiber Technician and become a vital part of building and maintaining high-speed telecommunication networks. In this energetic role, you will install, splice, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic cables to ensure seamless connectivity for residential and commercial customers. Duties
- Install fiber optic cables and related network infrastructure in various locations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and technical specifications
- Perform fiber splicing using specialized tools to connect fibers accurately and efficiently for optimal signal transmission
- Troubleshoot network issues by testing cables with equipment such as ohmmeters and identifying faults in fiber or associated hardware
- Set up and configure Cisco routers, Ethernet switches, and telecommunication equipment to establish reliable network connections
- Conduct cabling work for low voltage systems including telephony, Ethernet, and other data services while adhering to electrical codes and mechanical standards
- Use hand tools and mechanical knowledge to prepare sites, mount hardware, and secure cables in both indoor and outdoor environments
- Document all installation activities, repairs, and inspections thoroughly for quality assurance and future reference
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or field technician within the telecommunication or networking industry
- Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and network installation procedures
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Ethernet networking, telephony systems, and low voltage cabling practices
- Ability to operate hand tools, electrical testing equipment such as ohmmeters, and mechanical devices safely and effectively
- Basic electrical experience with an understanding of circuitry, wiring diagrams, and safety protocols for working with low voltage systems
- Mechanical aptitude combined with excellent problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex network issues
- Valid field service experience working on telecommunication infrastructure in diverse environments
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and communicate technical information clearly
