    JOB SUMMARY

    As the General Laborer, you will perform a range of responsibilities, including painting and inspecting parts, as well as setting up and operating cut-off saws. The ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail and experience in painting and machine operating. This is a mid-shift position, 12:00pm-8:30pm.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Performs setup on cut-off saws, such as: determines type of material and the length of part to be cut from the blueprint, sets stops, uses hand tools, to cut length required, pulls required material from racks and cleans material, as needed.
    • Operates machines, locates material against stop, saws parts to required length, and unloads cut parts.
    • Inspects parts using blueprints, calipers, hook rule scale, square, etc. hold tolerance of + or - .005" on parts cut to length.
    • Completes quality checks as required. Performs part layout on aluminum plate using blueprint, tape measure, scribe, combination square, compass, protractor, etc.
    • Conducts layout and scribe periphery of parts per blueprint.
    • Saws parts on bandsaw following scribe lines.
    • Maintains hydraulic and coolant fluid levels in saws, changes saw blades as needed, cleans out filters, etc.
    • Follows 5S and keeps work areas clean.
    • Uses daily dispatch report and blueprint to locate and collect parts.
    • Prepares parts for paint by masking, plugging holes, etc. Determines requirements by reading part blueprints.
    • Follows all required ISO procedures.
    • Inspects parts visually for scratches, inks, rust, improper masking, etc.
    • Organizes and loads parts onto hooks or fixtures.
    • Inspects parts visually for rust, foreign substances, etc. Removes with pads and solvents.
    • Inspects parts visually after finish coat for runs, "fish eyes", paint coverage, etc.
    • Removes parts from hooks, removes masking, protects parts with foam, paper, etc. and positions parts onto carts, racks, etc.
    • Other duties as needed.

    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Demonstrated ability to meet Mark Andy paint finish requirements.
    • Exceptional attention to detail

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Degree or equivalent
    • 2 years of painting experience in automotive or similar applications.
    • Machine Operator experience

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Moderate to frequent exposure to shop environment; may be exposed to dust, odors, oils, fumes, chemicals, noise and moving parts. Work typically requires the usage of PPE and can require work on the facility's production floor or customer's production environment.
    • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl and move about facility and/or customer's facilities. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
