*This is for a Dual Modality Professional - CT/Xray Position 8H Shifts - E/N Rotating Schedule.

Job Description- Computed Tomography

Computed Tomography (C.T.) A technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross-sectional images of the human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders.

Requirements for this role are:

Busy ED with at least 2CT techs on all shifts, this shift will have 3 techs.

Patient care tech leaves at 11pm, at that point all patient escorts need to be done by CT Tech.

1GE CT scanner in the ED with another HE scanner in the main Xray dept, PACS is Client, EMR is EPIC.

 Duties:

1. Operate head or body x-ray scanners that create a computer-generated cross-sectional image, commonly called a CAT (Computed Axial Tomography) Scan

2. Responsible for educating and preparing patients for their examinations

3. Provide patient care that is essential to the performance of a variety of procedures

4. Take patient medical history before an exam

5. Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated

6. Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology

7. Assume responsibility for the safety, and mental and physical comfort of patients

8. Supervised by a board-certified radiologist but afforded a great amount of independence and responsibility

Qualifications:

1. Able to operate sophisticated computer equipment

2. Strong interest in scientific and technical skill and knowledge

3. Able to interact compassionately and effectively with the sick or injured

4. Able to communicate effectively

5. Able to perform well independently

6. Able to follow detailed instructions

7. Exact and precise

8. Highly self-motivated

9. High School graduate or equivalent

10. Current BLS (Basic Life Support)

11. Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

12. C.T. Tech certified preferred

Lifting Requirements Heavy lifting: up to 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to stand, stoop lift and walk without restrictions.

Frequent physical demands include: Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Taste or Smell

Occasional physical demands include: Sitting, Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders)

Continuous physical demands include: Standing, Walking, Carrying objects, Talking/Listening

Lifting Floor to Waist 25 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 25 lbs.

CPR Certification issued through an organization that requires hands-on in person training with a lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross)
