Building Inspector II, Community Development Dept.
$58,893 - $63,748 Salary, Employer Paid Health Insurance, Retirement, Paid Time Off
We are seeking a skilled Building Inspector for specialized technical work, including inspecting construction work and reviewing building plans. Responsibilities include inspecting new construction work and reviewing residential, commercial, and industrial building plans for compliance. This role demands extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes to ensure conformance with regulations and ordinances. Maintaining accurate records of inspections and client interactions is essential.
Qualifications:

High school diploma from an accredited school or a GED.

Four (4) years of combined experience in the field of construction or a related field, building code inspection, or plans review; OR

Demonstrates a combination of post-secondary education in the field of construction or a related field and building code inspection, or plans review; OR

Demonstrates a combination of technical education in the field of construction or a related field and experience, which totals three (3) years, of which at least one (1) year is experience in construction, building code inspection, or plans review.

Must meet the requirements of Florida State section (c) as outlined below:

**Building Inspector II Qualifications:**

- Standard certificate from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation's Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board as a Residential Inspector, a Building Inspector, and any two (2) of the following categories: Commercial Electrical, Plumbing or Mechanical Inspector or Plans Examiner, provided that at least one (1) of the two (2) certificates must be as a Plans Examiner.

**Trainee Qualifications:**

- Must possess a Standard certificate from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation's Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board in any one (1) of the following categories: Residential Inspector, Building, Inspector, OR
-Immediately upon employment, the selected candidate shall have ninety (90) calendar days to obtain provisional certification as (1) a Residential Inspector or (2) a Building Inspector.
