    We are hiring Full-time (40 hours per week) Multi-Systemic Therapist for our Family Enrichment Department with Catholic Charities who would serve clients in both Erie & Niagara county area.

    Catholic Charities is a non-profit organization that offers an array of programs that strive to empower individuals, children and families. Catholic Charities of Buffalo, NY, is the most comprehensive human service provider serving the eight counties of Western New York with dozens of programs at 40+ professionally staffed locations. Our programs include comprehensive counseling services for all ages, basic emergency assistance including operating 8 food pantries, mental health services, chemical dependency treatment, educational and job readiness services, services to older adults, marriage counseling, immigration and refugee assistance and a variety of programs that address prevention and treatment of a number of family issues.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    • Do you have a passion for working with children and families? Catholic Charities is looking for compassionate, dedicated people in Niagara & Erie Counties who want to empower youth and families by creating strength-based behavior change that will be sustained long after treatment ends.

    • You will receive ongoing team support, training and supervision in the Multi-systemic Therapy (MST) model as you work holistically with families, youth, their communities, and other key members of their ecology to implement MST.
    • Extensive research has proven the effectiveness of MST. MST therapists work in close collaboration with all involved to address the needs of youth who engage in problematic and criminal behaviors, and, in some cases, substance abuse.
    • You will empower families to address problematic behaviors and to help their youth ages make life-transforming changes. Treatment progress is made through intensive interventions such as changing unhelpful family interactions, addressing the youth's problems with peers and in school, and increasing social support, to name a few.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Exemplify Catholic Charities' mission, vision, guiding principles and values. Cultivate a culture of equity and inclusion.
    • Communicate, comply with, promote and monitor integrity and ethical performance, consistent with Catholic Charities' Corporate Compliance, Code of Ethics, HIPAA, legal mandates & labor laws, managing contractual/funder regulations & accreditation standards, regulations, policies and procedures (e.g. COA, BBB)
    • Engage in weekly case planning and evaluation of case progress, with ongoing support from your supervisor and team members, including through group supervision.
    • While only one therapists work with a particular family, the MST team facilitates a supportive work environment to cover each other's clients for vacation/time off and support each other to maintain a work/life balance.
    • Receive regular training, professional development, supervision, and consultation activities designed to help you acquire extensive clinical skills within the MST treatment model.
    • Provide clinical treatment to families using the MST treatment model and principles. Some principles include leveraging strengths and focusing on the positive, understanding sequences of behavior, and increasing mature behavior.
    • Conduct a thorough assessment of the client and family: gather information on behaviors of concern and strengths in the family and their ecology to inform conceptualization of the problem behaviors and interactions within the family's ecological context.
    • Work comfortably with a diverse community of clients
    • Learn how to effectively connect with the families in the communities served by the team
    • Continuously work to engage the primary caregiver, family members, supports, and community agency staff (school, probation, child welfare) in change-oriented treatment.
    • Promote agency vision, direction and integrity and assist with agency efforts to identify, explore and develop opportunities to enhance, market, and expand existing services and programs throughout WNY.

    EDUCATION:

    • Master's degree in clinical or counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related subject area preferred, or bachelor's degree with experience working with family and/or youth services will be considered. New masters level graduates are encouraged to apply.

    EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Direct use of pragmatic (i.e., structural, strategic, and functional) family therapies
    • Therapy with children and adults using cognitive-behavioral techniques
    • Couples therapy using behaviorally-based approaches
    • Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the youth's natural ecology (i.e., family, peer, school, and neighborhood)
    • Collaboration and partnership with community agencies
    • Previous work providing in-home or community-based therapy services

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • As responsibilities may require travel, must have appropriate and reliable transportation, and agency-required level of auto insurance coverage and be able to travel as needed within the eight county WNY region.
    • The selected candidate will travel to, and serve families, in both Erie and Niagara
      Counties
    • Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule in order to participate in agency-related activities/events that may take place outside of typical business hours.
