    About the Team
    TikTok's User Growth team leads growth initiatives for TikTok and all its platforms (e.g. TV, Lite, Web, etc.) with a data-driven and results-focused engineering and product mindset.

    We are seeking talented individuals who enjoy the intersection of product, data, design, and engineering to help us reach the next milestone of billions of users.

    You'll have the opportunity to build best-in-class onboarding experiences for our users as well as define A/B testing frameworks to measure and improve user retention rates.

    We encounter a diversity of technical challenges, allowing you to get a firsthand look at what technologies the most innovative organizations are using and be able to build up a bottom-up growth strategy from scratch.

    You'll be joining a full-stack team that can leverage all of TikTok's existing frameworks and be a part of designing and implementing new techniques and foundation work that can further improve user experience and showcase TikTok's value proposition.


    At the heart of our company's rapid growth lies the Organic Acquisition (OA) team, a force driving our mission to increase TikTok's daily users through cutting-edge technical innovations.

    As the cornerstone of our user base expansion, the OA team's efforts have been instrumental in drawing multi-million daily users to TikTok App, significantly contributing to the influx of new users each day.

    Our web products stand out with billions of impressions across all major search engines' result pages, witnessing a fast-paced growth that underscores our leading position in the digital landscape.

    As a Backend Engineer focusing on Organic Acquisition - SEO in TikTok's User Growth team, you will:


    • Design and build scalable SEO backend systems to support the content growth flywheel on the TikTok ecosystem.
    • Improve system design and architecture to ensure high stability, performance, and extensibility of the product.
    • Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality work in rapid product development.
    • Work closely with machine learning engineers, data scientists, and PMs to evaluate and iterate SEO products to achieve business impact.
    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications


    • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent majors
    • Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures, and algorithms
    • Experiences in designing and developing large-scale backend systems, and making informed trade-off decisions in various business environments
    • Experience in building large data processing pipelines.
    • Proficient with data analytics languages and tools such as SQL, Spark, Apache, Flink, etc.
    Preferred Qualifications


    • 2 years of experience in developing backend systems
    • Industrial experience applying proper machine learning models to solve real world problems, including but not limited to, NLP and computer vision areas. Model training experience is considered a big plus.
    • Domain expertise in SEO and related product and engineering practices
    • Past experience in Search, Ads, or Recommendation teams.
    • Experience in user growth or digital marketing field.
    • Experience in designing and conducting metrics-driven experiments (A/B Tests) and extracting insights from experimental data to support decision.
