    The primary purpose of this position is to manage the installation's records and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) programs program. The incumbent is also responsible for implementing policy, providing guidance, program management of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act (PA), and Information Collections and Reports.



    Duties

    • Administers the organization's RIM program to align with the agency's business and mission needs. Develops and oversees record management applying established policies, principles, laws, standards and guidelines for paper records, electronic, magnetic, optical, imaged, and any other format for archiving and maintaining information used by the organization.
    • Responsible for installation FOIA programs/initiatives and provides the FOIA source of knowledge for a host installations and tenant units. Provides managerial responsibility of FOIA requests for Air Force (AF) records. Receives and evaluates FOIA requests in terms of published legislation, content, estimated time and cost of the request, and determines the office of primary responsibility (OPR) for coordination.
    • Serves as the installation representative for the PA (Privacy Act) program. Conducts thorough review of AF and MAJCOM policy and guidance to determine if supplemental guidance is required for installation implementation to protect access to information which falls under the PA during electronic transmissions. Interprets the law, publications discussing current amendments, findings, and decisions in order to keep installation procedures current.
    • Establishes and conducts formal and/or informal training for installation personnel on maintenance of records, file plans, electronic records management, and any other area of records management deemed necessary. Such training may include train-the-trainer instructions, initial orientation, records Custodial training, FARM training, workgroup manager, and functional systems administrator training, and specialized training that include action officers, and individual user training.
    • Manages the operation of the base records staging area and centralized destruction facility. Receives and stores all installation's inactive records to include unclassified or sensitive records. Ensures charge-out records are returned to staging within established timeframes. Established a system of accounting and protection for all vital records. Retrieve records upon request, destroys and/or recycles those records eligible for destruction, and transfers long-term records to a Federal Records Center.
