    Description

    Americans for Responsible Innovation (ARI) is seeking an experienced and capable Chief of Staff to support the co-founders and senior leadership team in advancing our mission to advocate for responsible governance of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.

    About ARI:

    ARI is a newly formed nonprofit organization dedicated to policy advocacy in the public interest on AI governance. Our mission is to help U.S. policymakers develop a thoughtful regulatory framework that protects the public from potential risks of advanced AI systems while continuing to foster innovation.

    ARI takes a bipartisan approach, building coalitions across the political spectrum. We work closely with leading think tanks to translate cutting-edge policy proposals into actionable legislation.

    Responsibilities:
    • Help drive and execute key organizational priorities and initiatives
    • Take notes, follow up, manage projects, and keep everyone on task
    • Manage hiring processes across the organization
    • Oversee operations (finance, HR, events, IT), including our external operations/bookkeeping support
    • Organize event logistics with outside vendors (happy hours, dinners, presentations, etc.)
    • Conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making
    • Prepare briefing materials and presentations for senior leadership
    • Assist with administrative aspects of corporate governance
    Qualifications:
    • 3+ years of experience in fast-paced environments, supporting senior leadership
    • Excellent project management and problem-solving abilities
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex information
    • Experience developing and driving implementation of strategic initiatives
    • Willingness to take on ad-hoc assignments with tight deadlines
    • Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit and drive to achieve impact
    • Interest or experience in technology policy, government affairs or public service a plus
    • Bachelor's degree required

    This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven startup nonprofit. The Chief of Staff will report directly to the Executive Director and play an integral role in building and shaping the organization. This role is in-person in Washington, D.C., with a flexible hybrid work schedule (2-3 days in the office, 2-3 days working from home).

    Salary range: $140,000 - $160,000

    ARI covers 85% of healthcare, vision, and dental insurance premiums.
