About the role
SIGN-ON BONUS - $5,000 (1/3 after 1 month, 1/3 after 6 months, 1/3 after 1 year)
The CDL Driver will perform duties associated with labeling, marking, packaging, loading/unloading, and the transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste between Covanta facilities and the client's sites. Drivers will have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, and walking floor.
Covanta offers our valued CDL Drivers:
Hourly Pay (Time and a half after 40)
Day 1 - Health Care Benefits, including dental and vision
Paid Weekly (Friday)
No slip seating
3 weeks vacation to start (120 hours).

Responsibilities:
Operate equipment in a safe manner following DOT regulations and company policies and regulations.
Drive commercial vehicles to pick up and transport waste to a designated location safely while meeting scheduled appointments and following all DOT regulations.
Ensure placarding of the vehicle meets DOT regulations.
Completes paperwork including, but not limited to, expense reports, timesheets, vehicle inspection reports, manifests, and job sheets.
Conducts the required DOT pre-trip/post trip inspection on equipment such as: tires, lights, brakes, hoses, and fluids.
Inspects all containers on loads to verify proper labeling, marking, and segregation.
Secure cargo prior to and during transit.
Complete additional assigned duties.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
Covanta offers GED Works - a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.
Must be 21 years or older, due to interstate travel in a commercial vehicle and federal regulations.
Minimum (1) year of commercial driving experience.
CDL Class A
Tanker and HazMat endorsement preferred (candidate will be expected to obtain the endorsements as a condition of employment after hire)
Must be able to drive manual transmission
Clean driving record.
Ability to use a tablet for E-Logs.
Abide by standard DOT regulations at all times.
