    Position Description

    QIAGEN Germantown is the North American Head Quarters and the primary manufacturing site for our key clinical diagnostics products.


    The role of the Operations Site Head is to manage the performance of the site in line with objectives for product supply to markets and customers at budgeted costs and in high quality at required product specifications, and to further develop the manufacturing site to maintain competitiveness in the future.


    • Manage performance based on comprehensive departmental objectives and KPIs, ensuring delivery of all key priorities and reporting results as required.
    • Develop an effective, forward thinking and visionary operations unit.
    • Responsible for developing the longterm operational strategy for the site in line with corporate strategy and working with the team to develop the operational budget
    • Initiate and drive continuous improvement within and beyond the area of responsibility.
    • Manage a multifunction organizational unit, including budget responsibility, employee/manager qualification, resource planning
    • Responsibility for local manufacturing, assembly, logistics, quality control, local engineering and local EHS
    • Ensure compliance with all quality, regulatory, financial and safety requirements.
    • Evaluate and develop talent at all levels.
    • Leading the Site Operations leadership team, member of NAELT (North America Executive Leadership Team)
    • Independent assumption of entrepreneurial duties resulting from the connection between the activity exercised by the employee and that agreed under the employment contract e.g. arising from the Safety and Health at Work Act

    Position Requirements

    • The ideal candidate for Head of Operations Site would have a minimum of 15 years of experience with a proven track record of leading a manufacturing site within a global organization
    • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Life Science required. Experience in regulated biological or reagent manufacturing is a plus
    • Additionally, the candidate should be proficient at product qualification, formulation, and maketostock production
    • Experience in cGMP, ISO 13485 production environment and domestic and international logistics experience preferred

    Personal Requirements

    • Proven leadership and management skills with a track record of building a performance culture in a biotech/ GMP organization, and an ability to optimize team performance and development
    • Strong business acumen and excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders, crossfunctional leaders and partners
    • Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
    • Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities
    • Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
    • Commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets
    • Change agent who is resilient, selfmotivated, able to work well under pressure and inspire others to achieve goals
    • An appreciation of and an ability to positively resolve issues arising from different cultures
