    Job Summary

    This position is accountable for obtaining the patient's health history and relative information preoperatively to assist in the planning and collaboration of individual care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

    Salary Range: $27-$36 (Depending on Experience)

    Minimum Education and Work Experience
    • Completion of an accredited registered nursing program.
    • Two years of acute care experience preferred.

    • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge and proficiency of hospital information technology applications.
    Required Licenses/Certifications
    • Current California Registered Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License.

    Essential Functions
    • Assures the needs of patients and families are recognized and addressed through coordination with other team members within the health care system and community.
    • Communicates special patient needs per department policy and procedure.
    • Conducts and documents preoperative health history interviews with patients scheduled for surgery.
    • Documentation meets current standards and policies.
    • Obtains pertinent patient data based on surgical procedure and health history.
    • Prepares patient mentally and emotionally for surgical procedure pre-operatively through education.
    • Reviews with the Registered Nurse any patients with significant health history and/or abnormal lab, EKG or CXR.
