Auditor/Examiner 1

As an Auditor/Examiner 1, you will examine and analyze accounting records to determine the financial condition or compliance with tax code of an assigned organization program.

Core duties

Prepare financial report concerning operating procedures
Correspond with taxpayers, their representatives, banking institutions and court offices by either mail, phone or in person

What qualifications are required?

Bachelor's Degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university

OR
Three years' experience in a related area

The ability to meet the terms and conditions of employment with the Audits Division, including the ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
Travel is required in-state only
Proficient in Excel
Some positions require the ability to handle 30% phone work, ie. inbound calls, incoming correspondence from Tax Payers

Preferred qualifications:

Good knowledge of accounting and taxation practices
One year of tax auditing experience in various tax fields
One year of experience in general accounting work
One year of tax preparation experience

Position Specific Qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree and 4 accounting classes
Note Applicants MUST attach a copy of college transcripts.

This is a hybrid position. This Auditor/Examiner 1 position operates out of the assigned office and have the ability to telework. The Georgia Department of Revenue also conducts an MVR Check.

Additionally, a criminal background check & state of Georgia tax records check is conducted on all new hires, and you are required to have filed a State of Georgia tax return for the past five years.

Occasional travel is required to meet business needs.
