    Your Opportunity


    As the Business Center Practice Leader (BCPL), you will report to the Regional Business Leader (RBL). Your role involves spearheading the pursuit and delivery of exceptional work for our clients.

    Accountable for driving growth in the Business Centers and enhancing Stantec's market presence, while delivering innovative design solutions with exceptional quality that surpass client expectations.


    Leadership roles are expected to have a maximum term of 5 years. At the end of the term, a review will be conducted for succession planning and company expansion.


    Your Key Responsibilities
    _Essential Functions_


    Client Focus:

    • Ensure client satisfaction by managing accounts effectively across the BC and overseeing major client accounts.
    • Meet or exceed marketing and business development sales goals, including cross-selling initiatives, dedicating 25% of your time for this purpose.
    • Conduct a minimum of 4 client feedback surveys annually and address any issues through action plans.
    • Engage in pursuits and campaigns for significant BC opportunities.
    • Develop client relationship strategies in collaboration with business developers and project managers to enhance client satisfaction within the BC.
    • Maintain high standards in project delivery, business development, client satisfaction, and collaboration.

    Business Development and Collaboration:

    • Contribute to successful project execution by developing winning strategies and getting involved in key pursuits hands-on when required.
    • Monitor pursuit success rate and ROI on a client basis, taking necessary actions to drive business outcomes.
    • Lead the growth of the BC by formulating and executing business development, pursuit, and sales strategies.
    • Develop and implement the marketing and business development plan for the BC, including cross-selling initiatives.
    • Enhance Stantec's visibility by sharing our knowledge and innovation with key clients to boost our reputation and revenue.
    • Establish an effective Go/No Go Review process with business developers and ensure compliance.
    • Foster collaboration with other BCPLs and leaders to enhance pursuit efforts across regions and business lines.
    • Manage and optimize the opportunity Pipeline to drive business development plans and employee utilization rates.
    • Enhance the local marketplace reputation through maintaining relationships and supporting Regional Leaders.
    • Develop and maintain Stantec's Integrated Practice in the specified BC, including brand cohesion, client development, and market engagement.
    • Be accountable for achieving organic growth targets in the BC.

    Project Focus:

    • Lead significant BC project pursuits and provide written content as necessary.
    • Achieve a minimum direct utilization target of 40% or as determined in collaboration with RBL.
    • Actively engage in major projects in key roles and oversee risk management related to projects and pursuits.

    Practice:

    • Inspire, motivate, and ensure the team delivers innovative design solutions.
    • Drive project excellence and oversee project delivery, quality assurance, discipline excellence, and technical quality.
    • Foster design excellence and innovation in all disciplines within the BC.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO-certified Integrated Management Systems and Project Management Frameworks.
    • Maintain >95% compliance with Internal Practice audits related to Project Management Frameworks.
    • Manage the provision of digital tools and applications to support work in the BC.

    Provide Broad Leadership Influence:

    • Serve as a respected leader and advisor for the BC, engaging in key client relationships and strategic project pursuits.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen Stantec's high-performance culture focusing on innovation and productivity.
    • Cultivate an accountable and success-oriented environment within the company.
    • Uphold a corporate culture that emphasizes ethical practices, individual integrity, and customer focus.
    • Collaborate with various stakeholders on operational issues within the BC.
    _Support Functions_


    Business and Financial Management:

    • Assist the BCOL in developing the annual budget, setting goals for business performance, and supporting revenue growth targets.
    • Partner with BCOL to improve distressed business units and manage business line expenses.
    • Support utilization rate and backlog targets, fostering collaboration across the practice.

    Health and Safety:

    • Monitor the health and safety performance of the BC, meeting set goals and following up on improvement plans.

    People Leadership:

    • Develop, attract, engage, and retain top talent in collaboration with BCOL.
    • Enhance employee connectedness to leadership through regular interactions.
    • Conduct office visits and wide meetings to communicate the vision and progress against action plans.
    • Manage talent lifecycle including career development, engagement, succession planning, and leadership development.
    • Oversee performance management and compensation aligned with Stantec's philosophy.
    • Direct roles may focus on Marketing and Business Development.

    Qualifications


    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    • Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of Community Development and the North Central Community Development market trends.
    • Strong leadership, financial management, communication, and team building skills are crucial for success in this role.
    • Prior consulting experience in Community Development and a strong network of client and agency contacts are advantageous.
    • Familiarity with local market conditions, staff retention, and operational principles is essential.
    • Effective communication, business development, and results-driven mindset are key qualities for this position.
    • Candidates should be driven, enthusiastic, and possess high integrity.
    • Utilization goal will be set for the successful candidate.

    Education and Experience
    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.

    Minimum of 10 years of related experience in design, engineering, leadership, and business development.


    Licensure:
    Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of residence is preferred.
