    The System Administrator assists with configuring, deploying, and maintaining Windows and Linux systems to support the City of Chattanooga operations.

    Responsibilities

    Deploy and maintain Windows and Linux servers.

    Administrate and maintain end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights.

    Create and maintain detailed technical documentation.

    Monitor systems performance/integrity and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.

    Resolve support issues that have been escalated by the Service Desk.

    Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness.

    Ensure systems and applications are patched and kept up to date.

    Minimum Qualification

    High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in Computer Science; supplemented by two years of experience and/or training involving computer system operations and maintenance to include experience working with Microsoft Windows Server, Linux servers, AWS, GCP or VMware products or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience

    which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.

    Certifications

    One of the following or an advanced certification preferred.

    CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, CompTIA Cloud+, or Microsoft Certified Professional

    Physical Demands

    Positions in this class typically require fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

    Special Requirements

    Must obtain and maintain CJIS certification
