- Attorney will work under the direction of the Soboba Tribal Council to provide legal services for the Tribal Council, Tribal Administration, and Soboba Casino Resort in all areas of Tribal Law.
- Attorney's advice and representation may be sought on issues involving tribal governance, jurisdiction, taxation, environmental law, cultural resource protection, Indian education, natural resource development, tribal justice systems, employment, transactional review of casino and administration contracts, miscellaneous gaming issues, and the Indian Child Welfare Act.
- Attorney will review, prepare and negotiate contracts, and assist in the development and implementation of codes, ordinances, resolutions, policies and procedures for the tribe.
- Attorney will provide assistance with the tribe's land use plan, assist with the process of tribal growth including water usage and utilities, land assignment issues, and land into trust transfers and other land acquisitions.
- Attorney will perform other duties as assigned by the Tribal Council and Tribal Executive Officer.
- Attorney will be expected to travel to various courts and agencies in and around Riverside County, as well as regional, and out of state travel, as needed.
- Licensed to practice Law in California and in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- J.D. degree
- Demonstrated knowledge of Tribal and Federal Indian Law with a minimum of three years' experience in Tribal legal work.
- All applicants are required to complete the pre-screen Background Clearance and Drug Testing.
- Native American preference is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with applicable federal and tribal law.

SummaryThe Soboba Associate Attorney will provide needed in-house legal services for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians.
Attorney will provide representation in Tribal Courts, Federal Courts, and State Courts, must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of California, and must have knowledge of and experience in Tribal and Federal Indian Law.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesAlthough other duties may be assigned as necessary, the essential duties include the following:
Demonstrates a strong commitment to cultural beliefs and values of the Soboba Band and the governing Tribal Council. Practices cultural sensitivity at all times, recognizing the respective diverse work styles within the organization and the Soboba community. Must be flexible to travel for business purposes. Must submit to a drug test prior to commencing employment and random testing thereafter. As an employee of the Tribe, he/she will be subject to the Policies and Procedures of the Soboba Band.
