    Job Description

    Purpose of Position:

    • Responsible for providing administrative and clerical support for the Human Resources department to run smoothly in the day-to-day operations.

    Essential Job Functions

    • New Hire Process: Administer the Uniform Hiring and Selection Procedure for entry level union positions at Demopolis. Pre-screen applications, interview, and select candidates for skilled union positions. Schedule work physicals and drug screens and run backgrounds. Conduct orientations and process new hire paperwork.
    • Post all openings positions, determine successful bidders, notify supervision, complete PAFs with appropriate changes, log/close all positions once filled (both internal and external).
    • Process all hourly terminations (PAF's, final checks, etc.) Track all plant layoffs and ensure that collective bargaining unit guidelines are followed. Responsible for initiating all PAF's.
    • Coordinate all phases of the service award process, includes sending out the selection forms to respective employees, tracking forms to ensure all have been submitted to HR department, sending forms to MTM Recognitions, and tracking awards once they are received in HR office. Schedule service award presentations, complete memo for distribution to all management, order cakes, and help with set up if needed.
    • Complete EDD unemployment/disability claim forms for hourly employees and any follow-up needs.
    • Track and process all hourly leaves of absences.
    • Answer phones, type, help with counter questions, interpret for HR supervisors as needed, help problem solve various issues within our job parameters, and translate memos to Spanish as needed.
    • Run reports, including weekly headcount, HRIS queries and month HR union dues reports.
    • Assist with affirmative action outreach efforts.
    • Screen candidates resumes and job applications
    • Conduct interviews using various reliable recruiting and selection tools/methods to filter candidates within schedule
    • Assess applicants' relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes
    • Onboard new employees in order to become fully integrated
    • Monitor and apply HR recruiting best practices
    • Provide analytical and well documented recruiting reports to the rest of the team
    • Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection proces
    Qualifications
    • High School graduate or equivalent; AA degree preferred.
    • 1 to 2 years of experience in Human Resource Generalist function.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent computer skill (Word and Excel)
    • HRIS experience preferred (Lawson/PeopleSoft)
    • Ability to handle multi-task/projects in fast-paced enviroment.
    • Must have recruiting experience
