    Overview



    AmTrust E&S Insurance Services, a member of the AmTrust group of companies, is searching for an experienced and knowledgeable AVP, Underwriting to manage and lead a group of underwriters and assistants for our Specialty Casualty Unit.

    This individual will oversee activities of our E&S Primary Casualty and Supported Excess Products within designated region. Provides supervision for a group of underwriters who review, analyze, and price insurance coverage for commercial insureds. Analyze various rate plans utilizing claims history, risk characteristics and tailor coverage appropriately based on company guidelines. Gather competitor information, develop, and maintain relationships with wholesale brokers, and develop tools to grow department and underwriting profitability. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty or requires equivalent work experience. Familiar with a variety of E&S concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Provide support and coaching to other underwriters and provide leadership for multiple products within the team.



    Responsibilities

      Managing E&S Primary Casualty and Supported Excess Products while producing and maintaining a book of business themselves
    • Develop workflows and maximize automation
    • Implement procedures to increase profitability
    • Audit underwriters to identify challenges, confusion in procedure or guidelines, and need for additional training
    • Assist Underwriters in solving more complex underwriting issues
    • Represent the Underwriting Department with key company contacts
    • Seek out and develop new relationships with wholesale brokers
    • Train new staff as needed



    Qualifications

    • 7+ years of Commercial Underwriting background with emphasis on E&S Casualty
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Understanding of costs and expenses
    • Exceptional Customer Service skills (internal and external), strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Determine acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards
    • Experience working with wholesale brokerage community
    • Team focused with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
