- Performing general radiology, portable, and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Assisting with scheduling patient procedures.
- Educating patients regarding the procedures, equipment, and examination to ensure comfort and understanding.
- Assisting with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
- Ensuring quality assurance tests are performed daily/weekly and all policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Currently is a Registered Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT).
- Currently has a Basic Life Support certificate.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills.
- Has knowledge of human anatomy.
- Functions well under minimal supervision and in stressful situations.
- Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, supervises and coordinates work activities of assigned personnel.
- Schedules work assignments and prepares master schedule.
- May perform payroll time sheet for employees.
- Trains, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates performance of employees.
- Assists with interviewing applicants and recommends selection.
- Maintains procedure manual and communicates changes to staff.
- Assists with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law.
- Assists with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
- Instructs other area personnel in Radiation Protection, as needed, and ensures their safety.
- Performs general radiology, portable, and fluoroscopic procedures (GIs, GUs, pediatrics, arthrograms, spine center).
- Produces images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
- Maintains documentation requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately.
- Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam. May assist with scheduling of patients as needed.
- Demonstrates the care and operation of Radiology equipment according to technical specifications and applications.
- Notifies management and takes proper action to address equipment malfunctions.
- Assists Radiologist with fluoroscopic, GU, GI, and pediatric procedures.
- Monitors all appointments scheduled for examinations; performs preliminary research on patient when preparations are not provided; determines priority of patients based on the daily schedules.
- Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS, when applicable, knowledgeable in after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork - immediately reports any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
- Knowledgeable in billing via RIS.
- Ensures exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.
- Participates in on-going training of technologists and students.
- Provides orientation of new employees and in-service education.
- Provides technical assistance to physicians, technologist and students.
- Reviews processed films/scans to determine quality and need for additional images.
- Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
- May be required to rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing.
- Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Minimum 2 years recent modality experience.
- Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise others.
- Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
