    ABOUT THE COLLEGE:


    Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, 3% Applied Bachelor degrees.

    Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw.

    Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students.

    Fiscal Specialist 1:
    This position performs detailed fiscal work under general supervision of the Student Financials Manager.

    This position performs fiscally related tasks that involve receiving, distributing, transferring and accounting for funds independently and in collaboration with a team, under general supervision of the Student Financials Manager.

    Student Financial Services office provides customer service to students and other customers, as well as fiscal support to the finance office and other campus departments, that applies principles of financial management to perform cashiering functions which include - cash handling, departmental deposits, student accounts reconciliation, financial aid processing, analysis, receivables and other functions.

    Position Responsibilities


    • Answer a variety of questions and handle potentially stressful situations with a diverse population in a courteous and professional manner.
    • Assist, explain and advisestudents about our tuition and fee rates, tuition due dates, payment options, refund policies, and other policies and procedures. Provide consistent and accurate information while following the FERPA guidelines.?
    • Provide and create account statements and receipts to students as requested.
    • Process payments with card terminal, cash, and check and apply accurately to appropriate accounts.
    • Process EFT payments and reconcile to Customer Accounts.
    • Process departmental deposits efficiently and accurately.?
    • Analyze, review and process refund requests to the correct account or student.
    • Review and correct Student Accounts and communicate with supervisor, students and other departments as necessary.
    • Reconcile, balance and close daily batch.
    • Download queries to adjust tuition for students in both upper and lower division classes.
    • Make manual account adjustments, Financial Aid adjustments, and apply waivers.
    • Maintains and/or enforces security procedures to ensure safety of college funds.
    • Coordinate Financial Aid Disbursement and Refund activities.
    • Run Student Collections process.
    • Post Financial Aid Refunds.
    • Apply Grants payments to Third Party Accounts.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Multi-task numerous projects with demonstrated time management skills
    • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the listener
    • Working knowledge of fiscally related work in the areas of accounts receivables and collections
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate and?work effectively with people of various ethnic, cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds
    • Ability to work accurately with attention to detail and numbers
    • Ability to answer phones and direct calls
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member
    • Ability to work with change and interruptions
    Qualifications


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Three years of relevant accounting experience or equivalent education/experience.
    • Demonstrated successful experience working accurately with numbers.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

    • Must have the ability to sit for prolonged period of time at a desk/computer workstation
    • Frequent repetitive arm, hand, and finger motions
    • Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screen in performing work assignments
    • Work in an office setting with frequent interruptions
    • Must be able to maintain "regular and predictable attendance"
    • May need to carry, lift or move equipment/supplies up to 25lbs
    • Work schedule: Monday-Thursday8:00am-5:00pm, 8:00am-4:30pm
