    Job Description

    As a Hospital Corpsman, you play a vital role in the Navy's medical support division.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform emergency medical treatment on SEALs, Seabees, Marines, and other military personnel injured in the field.
    • Provide advanced medical care and operational services for Marine Reconnaissance, USMC Special Operations Forces, and Special Operations Command personnel.
    • Rescue patients and deliver emergency care from the back of a helicopter.
    • Provide basic medicine and assist medical officers in prevention and treatment of diving-related illnesses.

    Work Environment

    You will work in various environments, including hospitals, clinics, aircraft carriers, submarines, and remote locations around the world.

    Training & Advancement

    After Boot Camp, you'll attend 'A' school for 14 weeks to develop a working knowledge of patient care and first aid procedures.

    Hospital Corpsman Advanced Technical Field (HM-ATF)

    You'll undergo advanced training in one of three paths: SPECIAL AMPHIBIOUS RECONNAISSANCE CORPSMAN PIPELINE, SEARCH AND RESCUE MEDICAL TECH PIPELINE, or MEDICAL DEEP SEA DIVING TECH PIPELINE.

    Education Opportunities

    Navy training can translate to credit hours toward a bachelor's or associate degree through the American Council on Education.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • U.S. citizenship
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Normal color perception
    • Vision correctable to 20/20
    • Meet eligibility requirements for a security clearance
    • Be 28 years or younger (for HM-ATF)
