OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibility of the Data Scientist is to apply experimentation, machine learning and visualization techniques to drive insights and help power data-driven decision making across all departments and levels of Pluto TV. The presumption is for the Data Scientist to supply applicable analysis through the mentorship of senior members of the team and drive complex Data Science-based projects to completion. In this role, the Data Scientist must be able to extract data, model and optimize production algorithms across our platforms, and query/manipulate data on an ad-hoc basis by using SQL, Python or R. Additionally, the Data Scientist must be flexible to quickly learn open source and big-data technologies such as Spark and the AWS/GCP ecosystems.

Build and implement production machine learning systems.
Apply machine learning techniques to research/implement live algorithms across our platforms, model user behavior, and optimize marketing and programming initiatives.
Design advanced data-visualization dashboards and presentations which facilitate novel views into our product and operations.
Translate complex business problems into quantitative solutions that scale across our global ecosystem of streaming services and content.
Validate models through back-testing and evaluation of observed data.
Automate machine learning pipelines using MLOps standard methodologies.
Maintain the health of machine learning systems, including speed, model accuracy, reliability, and performance.
Deliver data insights at the appropriate level of detail and perform fast follow-up to feedback.
You will work on models such as LTV Forecasting, Content Valuation & Forecasting, and "Green Light" Models.
Build a user-level data management platform that serves as the central data hub allowing machine learning software components to "plug in" and segment users, predict future behavior, identify users at risk of churning, and personalize their online experiences.
Chip in to device/user graph/CDP that accounts for multi-platform access and pan-visit user behavior.
Build models to guide our content strategy such as content affinity, slate planning, and scheduling optimization models.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

0-3 years of experience in Data Science and ML Engineering.
MS or PhD in Statistics/Data Science/Computer Science or related disciplines with specialization in machine learning techniques.
Knowledge of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
Full stack experience in data collection, aggregation, analysis, visualization, productionalization, and monitoring of data science products.
The ability to write robust code in Python and leverage associated machine learning packages.
Experience using Jupyter Notebooks.
Familiarity with a variety of statistical models and methods (i.e., causal methods, tree-based algorithms, time series analysis, regression analysis).
Communicate concisely and persuasively with engineers and product managers.
Strong detail orientation with a penchant for data accuracy.
Familiar with version control systems (Git, BitBucket).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Sagacity using Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, ML Engine, and APIs).
Astuteness with Databricks and Spark.
Percipience using project management tools like those from Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence)
Data wrangling savvy using SQL, Pandas, MongoDB.
Acuity in NLP or text mining techniques.
Perspicacity in deep learning and Tensorflow.

Hiring Salary Range: $98, ,

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
