Location: Rockville, MD
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Salary: From $43 - $48
Job Description:
The Senior Accountant will support general accounting operations and control company financial transactions. Responsibilities will also include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, and ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all company accounting tasks.
Responsibilities
Lead in the timely and accurate month-end close process.
Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and consolidating transactions.
Prepares and maintains reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and other general ledger accounts.
Support internal and external audits.
Responsible for Project Setup and Maintenance in the accounting system
Responsible for Billing.
Research proper accounting treatments for certain transactions as needed.
Troubleshoot any recurring process issues, determining root cause and driving solutions.
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including Sarbanes-Oxley.
Assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited university
10+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in government contract accounting/finance with increasing responsibility.
Experience with Deltek Costpoint
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX internal controls
Thorough understanding and preparation of monthly financial statements with advanced GL reconciliation skills.
Detail oriented with strong analytical problem-solving skills.
Strong multitasking skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Reliable, motivated individual dedicated to quality performance.
