    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY: Directs andprovides professional nursing care for an assigned group ofpatients across the age continuum, while complying with the NewMexico Nurse Practice Act.

    The registered nursein the Pre-Anesthesia Surgical Screening office is part of a teamthat works to complete a comprehensive assessment of the surgicalpatient's medical, surgical and anesthesia history, ensuring allmedical issues have been addressed and/or optimized prior toscheduled surgery.



    Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION:Graduate of an NLN accredited school of professionalnursing

    CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:Current New Mexico RN license or current Compactstate license.

    BLS Certification required orwithin 2 weeks of hire date. .

    SKILLS:

    • Ability to relate and work effectively withothers
    • Demonstrated skills in verbal andwritten English communications for safe and effective patient careand to meet documentation standards
    • Willingness to participate in goal-setting andeducational activities for own professional advancement
    • Is aware of professional nursing standards and performsin accordance with them

    EXPERIENCE: Previouspre-anesthesia assessment or surgical intake experiencepreferred.

    NATURE OFSUPERVISION:

    -Responsible to: CSV ChiefNursing Officer, PASS Medical Director and Operations Manager ofAnesthesia/PASS

    ENVIRONMENT:

    -Office

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Sitting for long periods. Visual and auditory acuityand manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties arerequired. This includes basic computer skills, familiarity withcomputer charting, typing, and telephone communication skills.
