Description

General Responsibilities: The Dental Assistant supports the Director of Dentistry, Staff Dentist, and Dental Hygienist in patient care and treatment, maintaining records, and handling administrative tasks.

Specific Responsibilities

Assist in chair side duties with patients, educating them on dental health and home care.
Facilitate communication among healthcare team members, perform clinical duties under the Dentist's guidance.

Administrative Duties:

Handle limited administrative functions including treatment notes, charting, and assisting with front office procedures.

Performance Improvement Activities:

Participate in staff meetings and Quality Improvement program.

Safety/Infection Control Activities:

Attend OSHA infection control seminars, follow guidelines, and abide by infection control policies.

Competencies:

Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, operate office equipment, demonstrate proficiency in relevant computer programs, communicate well with staff and patients, and multitask efficiently.

Other Functions:

Adhere to the Code of Conduct, show commitment to the organization, treat all with respect, and engage in community outreach activities.

Reporting Relationships:

The Dental Assistant reports to the Lead Assistant and is supervised and evaluated by the Director of Dentistry.

Evaluation:

Ongoing performance evaluation conducted by the Lead Assistant or Director of Dentistry, focusing on specific duties, employee attitude, and general working behavior.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, 2-5 years of dental experience preferred, teamwork skills, MS Office proficiency, and strong organizational skills required.

Status:

FLSA Non-Exempt position, OSHA high risk, ADA negotiable.
