- Vascular Interventional Radiography: Perform a wide range of vascular interventional radiography procedures including angiograms, angioplasties, stent placements, and thrombolysis under the guidance of a radiologist.
- Cardiovascular Imaging: Assist in cardiovascular imaging procedures such as echocardiograms, stress tests, and cardiac catheterizations, ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety.
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process, and provide emotional support to alleviate anxiety. Monitor patients during procedures and respond promptly to any complications or changes in their condition.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment, including angiography machines, fluoroscopy units, and ultrasound devices, ensuring their proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Radiation Safety: Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and yourself. Monitor radiation doses and maintain accurate records.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient information, procedure details, and any complications in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care and ensure smooth workflow in the catheterization and radiology labs.
- Continuing Education: Stay updated with the latest advancements in cardiovascular technology and vascular interventional radiography by attending training sessions, conferences, and workshops.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance initiatives to maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and departmental efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Technology or a related field (or equivalent).
- Certified Cardiovascular Technologist (CCT) credential or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification.
- State licensure or certification in radiologic technology.
- Proficiency in vascular interventional radiography techniques and equipment.
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and pathology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
