Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of Learning Design, this position is responsible for ensuring the pedagogical integrity of Learning A-Z products by performing content research, ideation, design, evaluation, and decision-making for K-6 digital and print teacher- and student-facing products as part of the LAZ product development process. This position may also serve as an internal SME in one or more K-6 content area and/or product.
Job Responsibilities
Partners with Product Managers, UX and Visual Designers, Content Developers/Editors, Engineers, and others to ideate vision, deliverables, and requirements for product solutions as the pedagogical and classroom voice
- Ensures alignment to the product and pedagogical vision throughout the development cycle
- Develops artifacts that drive instructional product development, including instructional blueprints, prototypes, scopes and sequences, and content models that are based on relevant academic research and learning science
- Performs research to translate findings into product content and features.
- Serves on project teams to bring the ideated solutions to life, including contributing to planning and launch processes; reviewing select deliverables as needed to ensure that they meet the specified expectations; provides feedback to Content Development early in the process
- Writes or reviews blogs, marketing copy, and other materials to support Marketing efforts
- May support Sales Enablement and Professional Learning Services in ensuring the pedagogical and implementation design for products is communicated in internal and external training materials
- Supports Bids and Proposals with information and analysis of RFPs and other adoption and list opportunities
- Collaborates with Product Managers, UX Developers, and others to evaluate data from pilot studies, instructional user testing and market research
- Uses deep knowledge and understan of resources and website functionality across LAZ products to inform product development
- Remains informed about trends and innovations in the industry
- Collaborates with Assessment Designers to plan and ensure alignment between the design of instructional resources and assessments
- Collaborates with Content Integration and Engineering to ensure pedagogical design follows established taxonomies and backend architecture
- Supports the development of research bases, white papers, and learning design briefs
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, litearcy, learning design, curriculum and instruction, educational technology, or similar
- 3+ years designing materials for commercial educational content providers
- 2+ years of K-6 classroom teaching experience
- Experience designing print and digital student and teacher-facing content, including lesson plans, videos, and interactivities
- Experience applying academic research to content design and development
- Expert level knowledge of K-6 literacy pedagogy, including foundational skills
- Deep knowledge of state and national education standards
