- Operates switchboard, answers, transfers, and disseminates all incoming calls to appropriate people in a professional and courteous manner and takes messages.
- Pages individuals over the central paging system as requested and according to hospital policy.
- Greets, welcomes, and directs individuals entering the Hospital promptly, assuring that all visitors, vendors and other guests are registered in the Hospital Visitor's Log.
- Provides assistance to patients and employees, such as making change, checking valuables, providing meal tickets, and providing postage as requested.
- Sorts and delivers incoming mail and sends outgoing mail on a timely basis.
- Handles facility inquiries and provide general information.
- Maintains petty cash fund.
- Performs cash receipt batch write-up including G/L coding.
- Accepts payments on patient accounts and writes receipts.
- Notifies facility staff of visitor's arrival.
- Maintains security by following established procedures including monitoring guest logbook and issuing visitor badges, if required.
- Keeps track of inventory and works with supply vendors to ensure a well-stocked office.
- Copies, files and updates paper and electronic documents.
- Assists in managing hospital census by discharging and updating patient accounts, when necessary.
- Performs data entry as assigned.
- Provides clerical support to other departments, as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
