Functional Job Summary:
Secure and analyze information to make and approve decisions on all complexities of short-term disability and/or state disability insurance claims, and their concurrent leave claims (e.g. Family Medical Leave Act, statutory, company-specific, and other leaves).
Develop and apply appropriate claim and workflow management strategies, to coordinate disability and leave decisions including timely and accurate communications.
Provide responsive and caring customer service to employees, employers, and others.
Investigate, secure and analyze information pertaining to employees' eligibility status, medical condition, occupational or employer requirements, contractual obligations and statutory regulations; to accurately determine eligibility for and entitlement to disability benefits and associated leaves.
Identify file/fact discrepancies and outstanding issues and secure additional documentation as needed while administering or tracking disability claims or leaves within prescribed time frames and service expectations.
Make and communicate eligibility and disability/leave decisions to employees and employers timely and accurately.
Develop and execute claim, disability, and leave management strategies and provide responsive and caring customer service; ensure that each employee's ongoing and changing medical condition, applicable policy limitations and provisions, applicable statutory requirements, ability to return to work and deductible income are investigated, applied for and pursued, and used to reach timely and appropriate claim/leave resolution and so that claims/leaves are managed to the correct duration.
Provide accurate and appropriate claim information to claimants, policyholders, sales offices and other interested parties; resolve issues through effective oral and written communication.
Position Leveling Guide:
Education & Experience:
Associate's degree in business, science or related field. Two years of general office and customer service experience required. Two years leave, benefits or disability claim management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
Knowledge & Skills:
Applies acquired job skills and working knowledge of company policies.
Job Complexity & Judgment:
Works on assignments that are semi routine. Works within defined procedures but is able to deviate from normal routine. Understands when to escalate issue if necessary.
Independence & Supv required:
Typically receives general instructions on routine work. May require detailed instructions on new assignments. Follows established procedures.
Interaction & Influence:
Contacts are typically limited to own department. Begins to build working relationships outside department.

In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year.
