    Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist

    We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to perform clinical research and patient treatment in conjunction with a specified clinical research protocol.

    This position will support the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program's (MCCRP) Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR).

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and organize multidisciplinary clinics for prostate cancer patients in collaboration with other departments and specialties.
    • Educate patients and their families on research protocols and responsibilities.
    • Interview patients to collect data on health history and lifestyle practices.
    • Review new patient records and screen patients for eligibility in research protocols.
    • Administer medications as necessary, draw blood, and obtain other specimens required.
    • Identify problems in research design or analysis methodology and trends in patient reactions to treatment.
    • Maintain weekly/monthly status reports on all patients.
    • Schedule patient examinations, treatments, and laboratory tests required by protocols.
    • Ensure adherence to legal, professional, and ethical codes regarding confidentiality and privacy.

    Requirements:


    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience, including 2-4 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year in clinical research care.

    Licenses and Certifications:

    • Licensed as a Registered Nurse.
    • Certified in basic cardiac life support.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of procedures and techniques for performing research tasks and some basic clinical tasks.
    • Ability to learn and become proficient in data acquisition and clinical responsibilities related to research protocols.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

    Work Environment:

    • This position takes place primarily in a clinical setting.
    • Work schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm EST.
