    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Provides patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
    • Responsible for the delivery of this care to assigned patients.
    • Provides treatment technique for assigned patients as prescribed. This includes all aspects of the hemodialysis procedure.
    • Responsible for accurate documentation of information related to the patient treatment. This information is documented by the technician in the appropriate patient record.
    • Reports any significant information or change in patient condition to the charge nurse.
    • Familiar with all emergency operational procedures.
    • Safely operates all dialysis-related equipment.
    • Provides minor trouble shooting when necessary.
    • Familiar with all emergency equipment.
    • Participates in staff meetings as scheduled.
    • Assists in patient care meetings when appropriate.
    • Acquires information in the latest development of dialysis technique by participating in scheduled in-service classes.
    Qualifications

    Skills / Requirements:
    • High school graduate
    • Newly employed patient care technicians with no previous dialysis will obtain CCHT certification through a CMS approved National Certification Program for ESRD patient care technician certification within 18 months of being hired as a dialysis patient care technician.
    • CPR certification
    • Completed course in theory and practice of hemodialysis.
    • Be able to lift up to 30 pounds
    Pluses:
    • Education in physical sciences and/or training in laboratory techniques preferred.
    • Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
    • Experienced patient care technicians must be certified under a State Certification program as a certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT or CHT).
