Job description
Training for this position will be on 1st shift 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with overtime as needed.
2nd shift hours are 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
SUMMARY Parts being prepared for coating must be free of any spots, film, lint, or other particulate matter; therefore, person doing the loading must be highly skilled in the art of cleaning lenses. Loader must be tolerant of common solvents (such as acetone, alcohol, and soapy water) which are used in the cleaning process. Loader must have good manual dexterity and close vision. Loading is done in a clean-room atmosphere which requires wearing of face masks and other clean room apparel. Job is very repetitive and requires close attention to detail. Coating Loader I – All of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below would be expected for an employee to perform with guidance and training during the first few years of employment. There will be some positions that will continue to be this level when set ups and adjustments are not made by the employee. Coating Loader II – All of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below would be expected for an employee to perform at a confident proficient level in 2 or more years of experience. This would include setting up and making adjustments with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and punctual attendance is required Overtime hours may be required, if needed Safety: Hazardous materials, Escape Routes, Proper Apparel General flow of parts through plant. Quality Policy and other general quality issues. Understanding and use of pertinent work instructions and procedures. Proper handling of optics Scanning parts Identification and routing of parts Hand cleaning of optics to load Identification of lens types and sides Use of operator card and process sheets Selection and use of coating fixtures Identifying correct side to coat Using microscope for cleaning parts Counting parts De-staining parts Loading - mirrors/prisms De-blocking parts Turning parts for coating 2nd side Identify correct color of coating Taking inventory Basic computer skills Maintain cleanliness of clean room and all related equipment Monitor fixtures for integrity of shape, fit, cleanliness Use of C.T. gauge and digital calipers
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to understand, speak and read English to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve common problems associated with the job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to sit; use hands to fingers to handle parts and tooling. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee must be able to see up close in order to check quality of work. This position is designated as a safety sensitive position because a person working in this position under the influence of drugs or alcohol, including medical marijuana, may constitute a threat to health or safety, which includes but is not limited to working with hazardous or flammable materials, operating, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring machinery or motor vehicles.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
