    **ACCOUNTANT**

    Public Safety Administration

    Finance Division

    **Number of Positions: 1**

    **This position is open to the general public and to all current city employees covered under the terms of the City's collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Union - AFSCME (BARGAINING UNITS 1, 3, 4, & 5).**

    Under supervision, performs professional accounting duties at the intermediate level where the position works independently on moderately complex accounting assignments, and performs related duties as required.

    **ESSENTIAL DUTIES**

    Review all orders and invoices along with any supporting documentation for accuracy and approval prior to processing payments in FMPS.

    Interact with vendors and staff to resolve any order or invoice discrepancies.

    Review contract agreements to ensure orders have the correct item code and funding strip.

    Confirm that costs are valid with orders due to discounts given on some contracts.

    Assist Contracts Coordinator with submitting time extensions, vendor limit increases, and any other contract modifications for contracts to Procurement.

    File all paid invoices, vouchers, award letters, etc.

    Use eProcurement to process vendors invoices Exhibit A payments.

    Review, audit and analyze payables and employee reimbursements.

    Receipting of invoices for supplies and services.

    Working with the Citys Department of Finance to Resolve any Payment Issues

    Create account receivable invoices.

    Responsible for cash management including printing, cashing and distributing.

    **Days:** **Monday - Friday**

    **Hours:** 9:00 am 5:00 pm

    **Salary:** $64,668.00

    **THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE**

    **Qualifications:**

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in accounting or a directly related field with 15 semester hours in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, provided the minimum degree requirement is met

    **NOTE:** You must provide your college or university transcripts with 15 semester hours of accounting courses at the time of interview.

    **Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:**

    Experience with Oracle and SAP software.

    Experience with Account Payable and Account Receivable

    Experience analyzing balance sheets and financial statements.

    Experience in account reconciliation.

    Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
