    We're searching for a

    Staff Software Engineer

    to join Aurora's

    Core Ingestion Infra

    team.

    The ideal candidate will have a passion for diving into the log ingestion center to explore the full life cycle of the log, help keep it fast, user-friendly, data driven, and work with our visualization developer partners closely.

    You'll develop tools, data pipelines & APIs to accelerate log consumption and exploitation & building scalable services.

    In this role, you will

    Drive feature development for Ingestion Center oriented applications and log exploitation.

    Leverage production best practices to guarantee a reliable platform for log ingestion across stakeholders in the organization.

    Optimize data pipelines handling sensor data from millions of miles of on-road


    Work together with autonomy engineers to enhance the efficiency of sensor data utilization across various platforms, such as visualization and labeling platforms.

    Collaborate across teams and functions (product, autonomy, operations, labeling) to drive projects from inception to delivery


    Be a force multiplier across a diverse set of hardware and software engineers and proactively work together with stakeholders to achieve cross-departmental goals and satisfy company OKR.

    Required Qualifications

    Minimum 7 years related experience


    Required programming skills:
    C++


    Preferred programming skills:
    Python or GoLang

    Strong hands on experience of building backend software systems networking, load balancing, API gateways, system security, gRPC services.

    Strong with database design, database management and database scalability.

    Experience with workflow orchestration pipeline - Airflow, Kubernetes, CI/CD tooling.


    Comfortable working with the PB scale of dataset (optical, lidar, and radar modalities) and championing engineering excellence by continuously optimizing the systems and processes with SLO/SLA in mind.


    Work with your teammates to leverage the cutting edge cloud technologies to own, architect, implement, and test scalable distributed data frameworks in the cloud.

    Contribute to and evolve our team culture around mentorship, feedback, collaboration, and engineering excellence.

    Collaborate with product and cross team stakeholders to plan features and build high-quality, extensible, and scalable products.

    Desirable Qualifications

    Experience with large scale distributed systems or microservice architectures

    A passion for writing robust, intuitive, high-performance code, and being pragmatic about it

    Ability to navigate and work efficiently in large codebase

    Understanding the decoding and encoding of sensor data

    Strong software development background demonstrated by industry experience in building platforms that serve AV development and commercialization.

    The base salary range for this position is $170,000-$221,000 per year.

    Aurora's pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

    Within the range, the successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.

    These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
