- Must be able to read and understand the construction contract documents and be familiar with interpreting plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Performs tasks related to all field inspection and engineering activities on a construction project or multiple concurrent construction task orders and involves a combination of office and work site visits.
- Implements and utilizes an established file system and procedures setup for each project.
- Prepares and submits daily progress reports originated by oneself for the construction activities inspected.
- Ensures that field work incorporates latest contractor submittals and is documented on as-built set of drawings.
- Checks and confirms that project payment item quantities are calculated correctly.
- May participate in field construction meetings with contractor and client representatives.
- Prepares time and material changed work documentation and calculations.
- Verifies that specified quality control tests are performed as needed, inspection test records are submitted in a timely manner, and corrective actions implemented, if necessary, by the contractor.
- Other field engineering tasks and duties assigned by the Project Manager or Resident Engineer or Lead Field Engineer.
- Knowledge of construction codes, standards, and materials.
- Proficiency in MS Office - Excel, word; some experience in a database program.
- Knowledge of computer software tools such as eBuilder, PlanGrid, and LoadSpring.
- Ability to work independently and takes initiative to perform tasks to meet deadlines.
- Organized, safety and quality minded.
- An A.S., B.S. or B.A. degree in an appropriate construction-related, technical, or engineering field or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and/or related experience.
- Five years of field construction inspection and engineering experience on significant transportation projects.
- Available to work day, night, or weekend shifts.
- Ability to communicate with project team staff or others.
- Valid drivers' license.
- Previous experience on an operating rail or transit system, and Design-Build construction projects.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering-related field with career desire to advance in construction management.

Ardmore Roderick is seeking Field Engineers/Inspectors to join our team. The Field Engineers/Inspectors will report directly to a Project Manager, Resident Engineer, or Lead Field Engineer. Each Field Engineer/Inspector will undertake responsibility for on-site inspection and associated daily progress documentation on one or more assigned construction projects.
